Das Buch bietet eine Vielzahl von praxisnahen, methodischen Zugängen, um die Geschichte von Organisationen zu erkunden und Jubiläen von (Weiter-)Bildungseinrichtungen und ihren Verbänden zu gestalten. Es richtet sich an leitendes Personal in der Erwachsenen- und Weiterbildung sowie verantwortlich Tätige in Öffentlichkeitsarbeit und Veranstaltungsmanagement. Ausgehend von einer Begriffsbestimmung wird die Funktion des Jubiläums als historiografische und identitätsstiftende Selbstverortung von Organisationen beschrieben. Es werden sowohl repräsentative wie auch innovative Methoden erläutert und als Handlungsempfehlungen weitergegeben. In allen Kapiteln werden erfolgreiche Beispiele aus der Praxis eingestreut, aus denen Modelle für die Vorbereitung und Durchführung von Veranstaltungen, Festschriften und Ausstellungen abgeleitet werden können. Anlass des Buches ist das anstehende 100-jährige Jubiläum von Volkshochschulen im Jahr 2019, bei denen eine praxisbezogene Einführung in die Planung und Gestaltung von Jubiläen dieser Einrichtungstypen hilfreich sein wird.

The book presents a variety of concepts and experiences on how the roots and past of organizations can be looked at by employing a number of methodological approaches as well as ways and means to celebrate jubilees of adult education and community learning centers and their associations. It is meant for professionals leading such centers and those who are responsible for public relations, information and communication, and event management. The book starts off by explaining the terminology and understandings of jubilees in their functions as historiographic and identity creating places in the history of organizations. It contains representative as well as innovative options which are then turned into potential practice. All chapters include successful examples from current planning of jubilees which can be used as models for the preparation and implementation of commemorative events, publications or exhibitions. The background of the book is closely linked to the preparations towards the anniversary of 100 years of Volkshochschulen in 2019, and as such it is a practice-oriented handbook for the preparation of celebrating jubilees of such adult education centers.
